Officials with Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare Inc. have found a new
site for the company's planned east end medical center.
As Business First previously reported, the company had planned to locate an
outpatient medical center along Chamberlain Lane, near the Old Brownsboro
Crossing development on Kentucky 22.
Now, officials instead plan to develop a health care center in the Old Henry
Crossings development, near the intersection of Old Henry Road and Gene
Snyder Freeway, according to Shelley Neal, president and CEO of Jewish
Hospital Medical Center East in St. Matthews.
Neal, who also will oversee the company's operations in East Louisville,
said her company's center in Old Henry Crossings will offer a variety of
outpatient services, including an emergency room, laboratory, radiology, MRI
and other diagnostic services.
The company already has received approval from state health-planning
officials to provide those services in East Louisville but still must
request that its licenses be transferred to the site.
Initial operations will be located in a 120,000-square-foot building that
will be developed on eight acres by a partnership between Faulkner
Healthcare Real Estate and Jefferson Development Group. Jewish Hospital &
St. Mary's will lease space in the building, which also will house
physician's practices.
Neal said the Old Henry Crossing site has a variety of advantages from the
company's previous, 10-acre site because it is has more space for long-term
growth and is more centrally located between growing communities in
northeast and southeast Louisville.
In addition to the leased space, JHSMH officials have secured an option to
purchase an additional 40-acre parcel and a 32-acre parcel for an
undisclosed amount.
Jeff Polson, vice president of marketing and communications for the company,
said officials likely will determine next year what needs they have for
additional space at Old Henry Crossings.
